Midweek Confessions

It's that time again to link up with E, Myself, and I for some confessions!

Ok, so grad school has started, and OH MY! It is going to be a very busy next 15 months!

I went to the gym Monday.  It was the first time in two months. Then I stopped at the grocery store to buy  groceries to cook a meal.  Can you believe I actually cooked?  And wouldn't you know... a bag of mini York Peppermint Patties were calling my name.

I'm frustrated that I don't contribute more in the discussions the graduate class.  I remind myself of the little shy student that sits in 7th grade twiddling her thumbs, hoping to never be called on to answer a question.  I do alot of listening.  I kind of feel like a fish out of water.  Over 3/4 of the people in class are older than me and have kids.  I guess I don't feel as experienced having only taught 3 years as opposed to the others who have taught closer to 10 years.  But I need to stop letting this be my crutch and get over it!  I know God has me in this class for a reason so I am determined to start participating more!

The past two mornings I've set my clock for 5:30, but for some reason my feet don't hit the floor until 5:50.  Hey, at least I'm not late to class!

I worked out today, but now I'm craving a big juicy cheeseburger.  Wait, this isn't a confessions...yet... because I haven't eaten it.  Maybe I won't. Fingers crossed!

That's all I have this week.  Grad school and workouts have wiped me out!

Midweek Confessions

It's that time again! Time for a little look into my life!
Today was full of firsts for me!
* I went to a new dermatologist.
* I started my first assignment for grad school.
* I went to a job fair, NOT wanting to find a job. This was part of the grad school assignment.
* I ate BY MYSELF in a restaurant for lunch. Oh.My.Gosh. Still can't believe I did that!
(RBG, I'm thinking about you right now. I remember you telling me about eating by yourself for the first time at a... Mexican restaurant, maybe... after dropping someone off at the airport, perhaps?)
Confessions for the past week:
* I read the 50 Shades of Grey Trilogy. Okay! I know! Don't freak out! I know it's one of the most controversial trilogies out right now! I had a few days off before I started grad school and since I couldn't make it to the beach as I had hoped, I decided to get lost in a book series. I mean after all, I had to see what all the hype was about. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to young audiences. But, it was readable, and I am on the verge of saying that I liked it. Ah! That's a huge confession!

* Speaking of books, I'm also in the middle of reading Sheet Music by Dr. Kevin Lewman. My BFF, Danica, mentioned it to me earlier this year. I was a bit apprehensive about it because quiet frankly I don't like talking about... bedroom activity. Ask any of my friends, this is an off limits topic for me. Being the daring friend that she is, she recently sent it to me in the mail. I have to admit, I'm glad she did. Here's an excerpt from Dr. Lewman's website:

"This book will expand and challenge your thinking, help you start your marriage off right, or go from humdrum to exciting if you’re already married."

God intended intimacy for marriage, and I feel pretty strongly about that! I recommend it for newlyweds, older couples, or anyone in an (cough) "intimate" slump. I agree with Dr. Lewman that it is NOT recommended for couples that are NOT married, or approaching marriage. I wish I would have read this book, or at least the first 4 chapters, BEFORE I married.
* So I pretty much blushed writing this post as much as I've blushed reading the books mentioned. Maybe I shouldn't be sharing this stuff?!?! AH what would these mid-week confessions be without some REAL confessions.
* I struggle with grammar. Is it mid-week? Midweek? MidWeek? Ugh, I should know this stuff!
* Is it crazy that I'm pretty stinkin' excited about starting grad school classes! I'm kissing summer goodbye for the next six weeks but welcoming the challenging classes that I will be taking over the next six weeks!
* This past Friday my age now implies that I am a quarter of a century old. Craziness!
* I'm going to eat with a few teacher friends from work tonight (the same as a few weeks ago)! I'm pretty excited!
* I'll be hanging out with a few of my favorite friends tomorrow night in celebration of my birthday!
* I enjoyed birthday dinners with Daniel's family and my family this weekend.
* My heart is overjoyed with being able to spend time and make memories with all my friends and family over the past week!

Signing off with a smile!

Midweek Confessions

1. School is winding down. I finished teaching all new material mid-April and now that the BIG test (MCT2) is over we are just reviewing before students take final exams. Confession - I may or may not have set in a vacant student desk and propped my feet up on the back of another vacant student desk this week while students were working their study guide. I am one tired teacher after a busy school year. Thank goodness we only have 3 and 1/2 more days with students!

2. I received a wedding invitation today. Confession - Once I saw that my husband already opened it and threw it on the table like a rag doll; I immediately put it back into the inner envelope, then the outer envelope. At that point I delicately removed the invitation from each of the envelopes paying attention to each intricate detail from the colors, font, style, and onto the wording. Why did I do this? Maybe because I'm crazy. And I actually questioned my actions as I was putting the invitation back into the envelope to be reopened. But I wanted to make sure that I appreciated every effort the bride made in choosing her wedding invitation.  Possibly because my wedding invitation process was an epic failure on the original day my mother and I set out to pick out invitations.  Thankfully we decided to go back another day to order invitations or there is no telling how the invitations would look since my mother and I got into a heated argument over who knows what that day.  Oh the joys and stresses weddings bring to some people.

3. The hubby and I ate dinner at my parents’ house last night. Confession - That means I haven't had to cook in over a week now. Geeezzzz... this not-cooking thing is getting ridiculous. I need to go to the grocery store!  I’m sure my husband would appreciate that.

4. I've been so sleepy the last two days when I got home for work. Confession - I snuck in a power nap the past two days after work before dinner.

5. Speaking of sleep... Confession - On a week night I am usually in the bed by 10:00 and asleep by 10:30. My husband says that it’s ridiculous that I am in my mid-twenties and wanting to go to bed some nights before 9:00. He would rather stay up until at least mid-night. Am I weird for going to sleep "too early?" Let me hear when your bedtime!

6. I really like these "Midweek Confessions" hosted by E, Myself, and I. Confession - I was so excited that I wrote it a night before and had it set to post the next day! Posting a blog at a scheduled time is a first for me!

***I haven't forgot about possibly writing the blog on the drinking issue.  I may or may not get around to that... Stay tuned!

That's all folks!

End of the Week Confessions

OK, so I'm a little late!  This is more like END OF THE WEEK confessions.

1. I had the BEST girls night last night with a few teachers from school. Confession - I was a bit skeptical about going because I had never hung out with these two ladies out of a school setting. No worries, we had a BLAST!

2. We ate at a Mexican restaurant. Confession - We drove 20 miles south to eat at a Mexican restaurant in a "wet" county. The county I live in does not sale liquor.

3. I sat through an interesting Sunday School lesson last week.  One of the topics was drinking.  My teacher who is an awesome mentor and whom I look up to, is opposed to drinking.  Confession - I'm not so sure I agree with her.  Confession #2 - I ordered a large last night.  Confession #3 - I hope this does NOT open up a can of worms on the topic of drinking on my "comments". Confessions #4 - I'll probably end of writing a blog post about this subject because I may feel judged for drinking, or may feel like my SS teacher is being judged.  I prefer neither of us to be judged... K, thanks! :)

4.  The MCT2 tests are OVER this week! Let me repeat.... no more walking around for 3+ hours monitoring students while they take the forever long tests!

5.  I am super - duper exhausted after the junior high field day we had to celebrate students' hard work in preparation for MCT2.  Confession - I may be asleep before 8:30 on a Friday night.

6. My mom wants a tree for Mothers' Day.  Confession - My thoughts are, "A TREE?!?!? Why not roses, flowers, or gift certificate for a manicure or pedicure." I mean I just feel like a tree isn't a fun gift.  But she has always talked about wanting a Japanese Maple tree and when asked what she wanted that was her reply.  I guess it could be worse; she could have said it doesn't matter and taken the risk of receiving something she will not like.  SPOILER: So tomorrow I will set out to find a Japanese Maple.

7.  My sister graduated from a community college today.  Confession - I do not feel like I should be old enough to have a sister in high school, much less graduating from a two-year college.  I am very proud of her and all of the scholarships she has been awarded recently.  Now, she will continue her education at Ole Miss.  Hotty Toddy!

That's all folks!

MidWeek Confessions

I'm just going to get down to business...

1.  I rEaLLy wish I was back at the beach where I was this time last week.  Ooooohhh, aren't you jealous!

2.  I was hoping the trip would re-energize me to HAPPILY make it through the last few weeks of school.  But the truth is, everyone is worn out! Like, really!  The students are tired of being drilled for MCT2 and quiet frankly, I am tired of drilling them!  My students and I will be incredibly happy with that big honkin' test is over!

3.  Well, I told the baseball coach I would come watch the 1st round of play-offs today... Go PANTHERS!  And the hubby told friends of ours we would come over to their house while the guys watch the NFL draft and the girls ooooooh and ahhhhhhh over their tiny 2 week old baby.  Let's be real, I would rather sit in the air conditioned house, holding that precious little baby!  But I also want to be true to my word and be a good fan and cheer on the Panthers tonight. Decisions, decisions.

4.  Six more school days until MCT2 and 18 more days of school, but who's counting????  ME!

5.  I registered for grad school classes last night.  To say I'm a little nervous and annoyed that it will consume my entire summer is an understatement.  But....... I want to get that degree under my belt!

6. This Monday Daniel and I started counting our calories.  My target is less than 1,200 calories per day.  I have went over Monday.... and Tuesday.... and Wednesday.... Whoops!

Tomorrow is Friday... bring it on weekend... bring it on!

MidWeek Confessions

It's that time again to link up with emyselfandi for a few midweek blurtouts!

*  I think I am more excited about Easter Break than my students.  I've had a count-down on my Promethean Board all week for our days off on Friday and Monday.

* I've only eaten half of the Reese's Eggs I bought yesterday, so they are not ALL gone. However, I did buy two 6-pack packages. Opps!

* A spiritual confession: I need to be more focused on the meaning of Good Friday and Easter Sunday as opposed to what I am right now.  I'm just so looking forward to my time off, hanging out with friends, and attending a wedding that I have not taken the time to acknowledge that God sent his Son to die to forgive ME, a filthy, sinful human-being, so that death will be defeated.  Wow! How AMAZING is that that God loves us SO much to send His Son to die for us!  So over the next few days I need to be reflected more on the REAL reason for Easter break.

* Speaking of weddings... I will be attending a wedding in Jackson of a girl I taught with in Byram.  I hope they recognize me after gaining 9023478298357 pounds.  Blah... all these darn Reese's Eggs!

* I still haven't met my new neighbors, but they have STOPPED parking on the grass... maybe they read my blog :) I'll add that to my things to do this long weekend, okay, maybe.

That's all I have! Can you believe all the blogging I've been doing lately?!?!?

Tootles!

Terrific Tuesday

Good news.... I didn't get abducted during the selling on my computer desk!  Woohoo!  The lady came by, we loaded it (we dropped it on the way to her truck, ops!), and she went on her merry way!  Thanks for the encouragement Marley!  Since it was a success, and I didn't getting slain in the process, I may try to sell another piece of furniture that is taking up space in the  junk room office.

So what makes this Tuesday so terrific?

It's a yummy snack that seems to be a big hit around this time of year!   My mom has helped bring this craving of mine!  From as early as I can remember, my mom made sure to keep these stocked in the pantry during the Easter season.  I used to HATE them because I used to not like peanut butter.  But within the last few years, I have a new found love for peanut butter and Reese's.  So this Easter, the first time I saw these little goodies I had to buy a bag!  And today I bought my second bag.  Maybe I can make it last until at least Easter Sunday! HA... wishful thinking!  So thanks to this piece of chocolate stuffed with creamy peanut butter, my Tuesday is absolutely terrific!

Tootles!
